Le Vent du Nord at Celtic Connections

A festival favourite at the heart of Québec–Scotland ties

A leading force in Québec traditional music and a true audience favourite, Le Vent du Nord holds a prominent place in the programme of the Celtic Connections festival, reaffirming a long-standing and special artistic relationship between Québec and Scotland.

This year’s edition highlights the group’s versatility and international reach through several standout projects. Le Vent du Nord takes part in Our Mother Tongue, a celebration of music and minority languages, where the French language and Québec’s sung traditions engage in dialogue with those of Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

The group also appears in a shared concert with Ailá, offering a vibrant meeting of Québécois and Scottish traditions, driven by powerful vocals, rhythmic energy, and strong musical chemistry.

Finally, Le Vent du Nord is at the heart of the Scots–Québécois Afternoon Ceilidh Dance, a festive, participatory event inviting audiences to dance to the sounds of musicians from both sides of the Atlantic. This joyful gathering perfectly embodies the spirit of Celtic Connections: music that is alive, inclusive, and deeply human.
