Sophie Lukacs, a Hungarian-born kora innovator based in Montreal, composes original songs in four languages, weaving a dialogue between folk music and the Mandingue traditions of West Africa. Her debut album, Bamako, was named Global Album of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.
